Is it a goldfish or what?

Crystallized GoldThis photo looks a little bit like a dead goldfish, but it’s actually an interesting piece of solid 24k gold. The bars you see are actually gold crystals. Because the crystals are in tact, this 4.8 ounce piece of gold is actually worth over $100,000.

This piece is part of our National Gem & Mineral Collection at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington DC.
